Volunteering
The Motor Neurone Disease Association was established in 1979, and is a National Voluntary Organisation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. As a Registered Charity it is funded by public donations and relies on local volunteers who are the lifeblood of the Association.
Volunteers make a unique and essential contribution to all aspects of our work and provide the basis for our Branch and Group network in ensuring that those who have the disease can secure the care and support they need by giving practical help to them, their families and carers.
Who Volunteers?
Volunteers come from all walks of life bringing a variety of skills but most of all their support. Many themselves know, or have known of a family member, a work colleague or a friend who has been touched in some way by MND.
How can you help?
You can help in many ways, and choose how much time and commitment you want to give by assisting the Branch with:
· Fundraising
· Organising events
· Making a donation
· Supporting any MND event in your area
· Publicising our work and help raise awareness of the disease
· Becoming an Association Visitor for which both training and support is provided
What can you expect from us?
· A warm welcome
· Training and support
· Insurance cover and out of pocket expenses
· Meeting fellow volunteers
· Experience of working with a National and professionally run charity
· Most of all, you can expect the satisfaction that your efforts are making a difference to the lives of people affected by this appalling disease for which there is still no known cure.
